Ilija Karlusic, previously the President of HBA Asia Pacific, is a visionary with an inherent passion for interior design. His relationship with HBA began 20 years ago, inspired by the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong—a hotel designed by HBA that epitomized and defined luxury hotel design. Ilija joined the Hong Kong office in 1998, and with an international portfolio and a deep understanding of the rapidly growing Asia Pacific region, he spent 11 years leading the Hong Kong office to the success it is renowned for today. 

Ilija leads a powerhouse of a team with inspiration, awarded from an illustrious career. In all of his projects, he demonstrates an exceptional understanding of operations, overseeing execution while simultaneously creating new design directions and standards. His projects are highly regarded and have appeared in many industry publications worldwide. 

A proven leader, Ilija motivates and optimizes staff performance and productivity through his leadership and mentorship of a large design team. His belief in longevity is simple: “Be true to yourself and be true to the quality of your design.”
